The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has three pending applications for large wind power projects. Two in the northeast, and one near the Black Hills. Commissioner Gary Hanson says those could result in a major boost to wind power production in the state.
Hanson says the state continues to rate near the top in percentage of power produced from renewables.
Hanson says the PUC follows state law in approving any new renewable power project.
A power project has to produce over one hundred megawatts to be subject to PUC oversight.
