Watertown residents and anyone else who lives in a flood plain can most likely expect their flood insurance premiums to rise again this year.  Watertown Mayor Sarah Caron says that as climate change continues and we experience more severe weather activity we’re seeing flooding where we haven’t expected it.

She says that gives the city a way to counter those premiums by making flood insurance premiums in Watertown as low as possible.

Caron says that she is personally certified as flood plain manager and that two others in city government are also certified.

Caron says Watertown is a community that floods and some of the fixes for that are extraordinarily expensive.

She wants people to know what they are getting into with their property, what they can expect by way of potential flooding and where FEMA is drawing and future flood zone lines.
