A pile of different colored beads and trinkets to handmade jewelry

WATERTOWN, S.D. – August 11, 2017 – Prairie Lakes Healthcare System and the Watertown Breast Cancer Support Group are hosting the 3rd annual free breast cancer event Celebrating Life. Celebrating Life will feature keynote speaker Heidi Marble, a breast cancer survivor and author of Waiting for Wings. In coordination with the event, Heidi will collect broken and unwanted jewelry and turn it into a beautiful bejeweled mirror as part of her Donate & Create Program.

Heidi’s art is a metaphor for how to pick up the pieces of our lives and rearrange them. She emphasizes how life is a mosaic of experiences and how our brokenness can be turned into something beautiful. The mirror will be presented to the Watertown Breast Cancer Support Group at Celebrating Life the night of October 12th at 2nd Street Station in Watertown.

Individuals may drop off their unwanted jewelry at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System’s Main Lobby 8 am – 8 pm, August 14th through September 8th. Pick up on September 8th is available for bulk/large group collections in Watertown. Please call 605-882-7908 for more information.
