Watertown, S.D. – Alexis Velazquez-Sanchez was back in court again this morning at Watertown where he entered into a plea agreement of guilty but mentally ill to First Degree manslaughter charges. The charges are in relate to the death of 17 year old Jayden Harley of Watertown.  A Codington County Grand Jury had earlier indicted Velazquez-Sanchez. The earlier charges included Second Degree Murder as well as First and Second Degree Manslaughter.  Those charges were amended in the plea agreement to First Degree Manslaughter with the state dropping the other charges. Velazquez-Sanchez will be sentenced March 21st at 9 a.m. before Judge Carmen Means.  The plea agreement states the sentence cannot exceed 50 years. The incident began with a neighborhood noise complaint that escalated into a shooting that took the life of Harley back in June of 2017.
