City Hall at Watertown is moving more to social media these days as a way of getting information to the public and it was a topic of discussion at an Urban Renewal Board meeting This week.  The board chair Sarah Ries said she wasn’t sure it was a good idea for the Urban Renewal Board to launch a Facebook knowing how much maintenance it takes, however Mayor Sarah Caron says the infrastructure is already in place at city hall and that an IT official is already on the payroll that can help the Urban Renewal Board going forward.

However Mayor Caron encouraged the board to embrace Social Media.

Board Member Nancy Turbak said it’s important they embrace the new tools.

She says at the least the Urban Renewal Board should have a presence on the city page and she’s glad the city is headed in that direction. Ries said she would be more open to the idea if the city is going to help manage their site.
